The National League is now a two-horse race between the Phillies and Cardinals. Both teams made major moves before the trade deadline.
Bet the Phillies to win the National League. Philly is loaded.

Phillies Make Another Offer for Roy Halladay
Yesterday the Blue Jays turned down another offer for Roy Halladay from the World Champion Phillies. It would be wise for Toronto to keep Halladay - he is the best pitcher in baseball. If the Blue Jays trade him, they basically don't care about winnng for the next 5 years. Toronto would be in danger of becoming the next Oakland A's - a team so frugal they don't care about winning.

5Dimes Sportsbook is Clueless
What is 5Dimes.com thinking? Their sportsbook website looks like it was designed in 1996. They even do their best to HIDE the pointspreads of daily games! The navigation for the website is awful, even worse than Bookmaker.com. Whoever runs these two websites is just clueless. Idiots! It really makes you question whether or not you feel safe sending money to these low-budget online sportsbooks. How can your money be safe if their websites look like they were designed by a 3rd-grader?
I have to give Sportsbook.com and Wsex.com credit. Their websites are professional, very easy to navigate, and very easy to find pointspreads and odds.
I'm still trying to decide where to deposit funds for the upcoming NFL football season. I'll be in Vegas for Week 1. But still like to have some $$ in an offshore sportsbook to take advantage of different pointspreads.

BEST ONLINE SPORTBOOK
BEST ONLINE SPORTSBOOK - OR WORST ONLINE SPORTSBOOK
Beware of these online sportsbooks:
SPORTSBOOK.COM - Withdrawals are very difficult. They require one week to 'process' your withdrawal; processing should take one hour, not one week. After processing, you need to fax them a copy of your drivers license?! Then you must fax them a copy of your utility bill?! Then you must wait a few more weeks for your check to arrive. The whole process for your first withdrawal takes almost 2 months.
BODOG.COM - The true Low-Roller sportsbook. Bodog continues to put forth the lowest max bets in the industry. Betting a NFL football Season Win Total, say New York Giants Over 10 wins for the season? The most Bodog allows is $300. What a joke! Also, Bodog only allows $500 max deposits via credit card. All of their max bets are the lowest of all sportsbooks.
WORLD SPORTS EXCHANGE - Continued complaints pile up concerning their withdrawal policy. Most withdrawal checks are mysteriously 'lost'. Then the process really begins. WSX employees do their best to ignore your requests for Tracking #s or shipping information. The accounting department will refer you to the customer service department; the customer service department will refer you to the accounting department. It's all basically a scam to delay your withdrawal. Why? Two reasons. Most gamblers are impatient, and will end up making more bets with the money still in their account. That's what they want you to do. Reason Two, WSX collects interest on their money, so delaying all withdrawals by a month or two makes them money. Expect 6 weeks for WSX withdrawals.
Additional: WSX has the widest moneylines in the business. Not good for bettors.
BOOKMAKER.COM - This might be advanced for some, but this rule is so wrong it should be illegal: Two-team Teaser bet rule: one win and one tie = the best is cancelled; but one loss and one tie = you lose. This goes against all established betting rules. How can you have a bet where you can lose or push, but cannot win? Massive advantage for the house. They cannot lose! If one of your games pushes, they either win or push. Amazing. I've dealt with Bookmaker.com before and they are so ignorant, I actually believe they do not understand this rule is wrong.
The true problem with this sportsbook is their website. It looks as if the website was designed by 4th grader. Very difficult to navigate. And customer service is worthless; they don't speak or understand English.
BETUS.COM - If you win too much at this online sportsbook, they label you a professional and freeze your account! Sound unbelievable? By all accounts, it's happened dozens of times. And there is no recourse. BetUs.com's office is located in a strip mall in Costa Rica. There is nothing you can do.
ODDSMAKER.COM - This sham of a sportsbook boasts a 135% sign-up bonus. The sign-up bonus once you join is actually zero. 15% of that bonus is a refer-a-friend bonus. 20% is re-load bonus. (How can you re-load or refer a friend if you are Signing up for the first time?!) That leaves us with 100% left. The 100% bonus is given out after you bet your entire deposit 30 times. 30 times!!! Imagine you deposit $100 bucks. You then have to bet that $100 bucks thirty times to receive your $100 deposit bonus. Geez! You have a 50/50 chance of losing your $100 after just one bet; how about 30 bets? Their bonus is a complete sham.
Want to go somewhere else? Most online sportsbooks have opened up sister sites to conquer competition. For example:
Sportsbook.com owns & operates all of these online sportsbooks from their small office in Costa Rica: Superbook.com, PlayersOnly.com, Logans.com, Sportsbook.com, Racebook.com, Mysportsbook.com, BetUsa.com, Sports.com, Sportsbetting.com, & Allstar.com. Yep, all the same owner in the small jungle office located in San Jose, Costa Rica.
If you're sending your money to these third world sportsbooks you're a braver man than I am.

BET: NEW OLEANS SAINTS OVER 8.5 WINS
LARGE WAGER: SAINTS OVER 8.5 WINS
Season Win Total bets need to be looked at as investments, not as bets. These bets tie up your bankroll for a long time; don't use your bankroll, use your investment money.
I just dropped $5k on the Saints to win 9 or more games this season. Here is why.
a) Even though the Saints were 8-8 last year, they have a last place schedule. They play other last place teams.
b) The defense will be much improved. CB Tracy Porter will be back from injury. 1st round pick Jenkins is a ball-hawk stud. The Saints D-Line is very good; Sedrick Ellis will have a breakout year.
c) Reggie Bush is back from injury. He makes this team go.
d) Drew Brees is simply awesome.
e) The Saints play extremely well at home; they are unstoppable in the Superdome!
Where will New Orleans get 9 wins? Right here baby!!
- Lions and Buccs are the two worst teams in football = 3 WINS
- They'll split their games vs division rivals Panthers & Falcons = 2 WINS
- Easy home game vs Jets = 1 WIN
- Easy road game on turf vs Rams = 1 WIN
- Losses to Philly, NYG & Patriots - 0 WINS
That leaves 4 remaining games, Saints must win 2 of them vs:
- Buffalo, Miami, Washington, Dallas = 2 WINS minimum = 9 WINS!
Saints are better than all four of those teams!! No way they go 1-3 vs those teams! NO WAY! Saints might go 4-0 vs those teams. That's how good the Saints are!
9 WINS FOR SURE. Probably 10 or 11 Wins.

Online Sportsbook Scams
Many Sportsbooks and Online Casino's offer bogus Sign-Up bonuses. Take online sportsbook Oddsmaker.com. You'd be a sucker to send these jokers money.
Oddsmaker.com boasts all over their website about a 135% Sign-Up bonus. 20% of the Sign-Up Bonus is a Re-load bonus. Huh?! Yeah, if you lose your deposit, you get a 20% bonus the next time. So, obviously, that 20% isn't included in the 135%. Funny math huh. Why? These sportsbooks are located in small strip-mall offices in 3rd-world countries where they barely understand English, let alone math.
Another part of the 135% bonus is a 15% bonus if you refer a friend. How can you refer a friend on your initial Sign-Up? You can't. So that 15% is bullshit. So now we are down to a 100% bonus.
Here is the real kicker. The 100% Bonus goes into something called your Free Money account, which means you can never withdraw it. Ever. To get the 100% bonus you have to wager your initial deposit 30 times. 30 times!!! Let's say you deposit $100 bucks. You have to bet that $100 bucks thirty times before you get the free $100 bonus. They know if you bet 30 times you'll more than likely lose. Shit, you've got a 50/50 chance of losing on your first $100 bet! Either way, the sportsbook makes out like a bandit.
That's why this shady online sportsbook is such a scam. The underlying meaning of a "Deposit Bonus" means you should get a bonus upon deposit. It's not a Bet-30-Times Bonus, it a Deposit Bonus! Pay attention to Sportsbook scams.
Feel free to email me Sportsbook scams, reviews, feedback, recommendations, complaints, etc: CONROYCAN@GMAIL.COM. I will continue to write about Sportsbook scams in the upcoming months...

Steve McNair & now Arturo Gotti killed by their chicks
This is getting scaring. Bitches are on the attack. First Steve McNair, and now legendary boxer Arturo Gotti have been killed by their bitches.
Arturo Gotti was a boxing legend. Gotti vs Mickey Ward is still the best fight I have ever seen. Hands down, best fight ever! Even better than any UFC fight I've ever watched. Gotti had tremendous heart and a cult-like following.
What's to learn from this? Stay away from psycho chicks. There is a an excellent chapter on this in Billy Conroy's book 101 Essential Wingman Tips http://www.amazon.com/Cougars-Poptarts-One-Night-Stands/dp/1419698265/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247511008&sr=8-1
That's a great book by the way, but I digress.
Details are coming out now, but it looks like Gotti's Brazilian wife strangled him in his sleep. He was drunk, and they had been in an argument while on vacation in Brazil.
Arturo Gotti will be sorely missed.

UFC 100
Dan Henderson's knockout of Michael Bisping might have been the most ferocious knockouts of all time!! Nobody deserved it more than the smack-talking Brit Bisping.
I slammed all of my UFC bets and predictions (blog below).
Easy money!
If you've noticed, I don't post all of my sports bets, but the ones I do post are slamdunk winners!
Regarding the Lesnar/Mir fight, Brock Lesnar turned out to be a real punk. Flipping off the crowd was classless. I hope somebody beats his ass and teaches him a lesson. Problem is, all of the guys who can do it, Fedor, Arlovsky, Josh Barnett, etc., aren't in the UFC.

UFC 100 PREDICTIONS
LESNAR vs MIR: Brock Lesnar is a bum. The guy is completely overated. He has very little skills; any quality heavyweight could easily whoop his ass. Problem is, Frank Mir is a bum too. Mir is a shadow of his former self. Mir beat a tired old man in his last fight, Antonio Nogueira, and now he gets a title shot? Brock Lesnar comes from the WWF and goes 2-1 in the UFC and gets a title shot? WHAT A JOKE! Why is this? The reason is there are no good heavyweights in the UFC. Dana White's control-freak, asshole attitude has alienated all of the great heavyweights in this sport.
So we are left with a washed up former champion, Frank Mir, versus a WWF wrestler as the Main Event. Pretty sad, I know. The general public has been fooled into believing this is a Main Event fight. This fight should be the undercard of the undercard.
The two best heavyweights in the world will actually fight next month. Fedor Emelianenko vs. Josh 'BabyFace' Barnett will be an epic battle. Both fighters have rejected the UFC due to White's PayPerView earnings greed and ridiculous contract demands. Dana White has also alienated top fighters such as Andrei Arlovski, Tito Ortiz, Vito Belfort, Randy Couture, Babalu Sobral, and many others.
LESNAR/MIR Prediction: Lesnar will destroy Mir and it won't be pretty. Mir is out of shape and he can't absorb the punching power Lesnar will inflict. Lesnar wins.
ST PIERRE vs THIAGO ALVES: Alves is awarded the title shot due to a win over Matt Hughes. Hughes took the fight on very short notice, and it showed. Plus, Hughes is well past his prime. Alves is in way over his head against the dominant GSP. GSP will win this fight by submission.
HENDERSON vs BISPING: Sure Bisping has very a attractive record, 18-1, but who has he fought? Nobody! Dana White has continued to give Bisping cupcake fight after cupcake fight in order to build a follwing in England and the rest of Europe. It worked! Many believe Bisping is the next great champion. Fools. Bisping has never been hit hard in 19 fights. Let's find out if the Brit has a chin! Dan Henderson has a rock solid neanderthal chin, we know that. Henderson will knock Bisping out.
MARK COLEMAN vs STEPHEN BONNER: Why are both of these guys still fighting?! Coleman is 100 years old and looked it in his last fight. He fights like a slug now; it's not even fun to watch. Bonner was thrown out of UFC for 1 year for taking illegal drugs (steroids). He came back and promptly lost to some unknown guy named Jon Jones. This fight will be torture to watch. Prediction: who cares!
Dana White is good at one thing, marketing his product. This fight card is terribly overated, but I will watch it because I love the sport. The Henderson/Bisping fight will be a good one. Other than that, I'm really looking forward to Fedor vs Barnett on August 1st.

DIRECT TV RAISES NFL SUNDAY TICKET PRICES YET AGAIN
HIGHER PRICES AT DIRECT TV.
For the 5th year in a row, Direct TV has chosen to raise their prices. NFL Sunday Ticket is now a whopping $280 per football season. You would think in a slumping economy companies would lower their prices, or keep them the same.
Nope! The greedy bastards at Direct TV continue to jam their consumers with higher fees.
Direct TV has a monopoly on the NFL Season Package, so unfortunately, there is no alternative; adhere to the higher costs or go without.
Going without the Sunday Ticket isn't all that bad. A normal viewer will get two games on Sunday, sometimes three, another game Sunday night on NBC, and of course Monday Night Football. There will also be occasional games broadcast Saturday and Thursday throughout the season. Thus, out of the normal 13 games a weekend, you'll get to see about five. Is it worth it to pay that much to see the other 8 games? That's your choice.
Keep in mind you can only watch one game on one TV. Flipping channels to see other games becomes tiresome quickly.
For $280 you get football from September to December, that's it. The season starts in mid-September (Sept 13th) this year. The Playoffs start in January.
Recently, Direct TV also raised their monthly rates on their basic TV programs, as well as raising pay-per-view movie rates from $3.99 to $5 bucks per movie. Five bucks to rent an old movie? I'd rather go see a new movie for $10 bucks!
I wouldn't be surprised to see a dropoff in Direct TV subscriptions. The public will only stand for escalating fees for so long...

Phil Steele's Football Magazine
GOOD, BUT....
The best college football magazine out there is Phil Steele's College Football Preview. The others don't even come close. Steele eats, sleeps, and dreams college football. The guy is very good at what he does.
I just received my copy in the mail (ordered from the Gamblers Book Store online, $11). It's fantastic. My only complaint is Phil Steele spends an inordinate amount of time telling us how he correctly predicted a team's rise in 2005 or 2007. Who cares! In fact, every team's description is 75% Steele's description of the team in 2004 or 2005, etc. It's completely a waste of time. Steele likes to boast about his correct predictions from years ago, and the reader soon gets tired of hearing about it.
That's my only gripe. Bottom line is this magazine is a must read for the college football enthusiast.

Ben Gordon $55 million
Ben Gordon is the same exact type of a player as Allen Iverson. Why would the Pistons give Gordon $55 million bucks. That's a head-scratcher. The Pistons did not get better; that's for sure.
